To understand what recruiters are looking for, first, and most importantly, stop thinking like a job-hunter. Most people on the look-out for a job are incapable of thinking about anyone but themselves. Big mistake.

There's an old advertising adage from Madison Avenue:"If I see the world through John Smith's eyes, I can sell John Smith what John Smith buys." The advertising business spends a fortune getting inside consumers' heads.

To sell yourself successfully in today's marketplace, you should learn to think like a recruiter. And what are recruiters concerned with?

Formulating effective recruitment strategies.
Getting through the initial screening process as quickly, efficiently and cheaply as possible.
Narrowing the choice down so that the line manager can make a rapid decision.
Not being associated with bad hiring decisions. Bad hiring decisions smell terrible and can ruin an otherwise healthy career ....
So ultimately, recruiters are concerned with contributing to, or making, A GOOD HIRE.
