PERSONAL
APPEARANCE FOR INTERVIEWS
At
an absolute minimum, you should:
 |
Have
perfectly groomed hair. |
 |
Be
freshly showered / bathed - not a hint of
body odour. |
 |
Have
clean, dry hands, with nicely manicured
nails. |
 |
Be
conservatively dressed in a suit which 'works'
for you - good colour, good cloth and flattering
style. |
 |
Men
- perfectly shaven well in advance of the
interview, so that your skin has plenty of
time to settle. |
 |
Women
- a little make-up to accent your strongest
features. Professional advice can really make
a difference here. |
 |
Both
men and women - perfume and after-shave should
be avoided. Some people are allergic,
some just don't like them, so the safest path
is to leave it off. |
as
|
"If
a woman is poorly dressed you notice the
clothes.
If
she is impeccably dressed you notice the
woman."
(Coco
Chanel) |
TWO
RULES OF THUMB
1.
You should be one of the best-dressed people
in the room.
2.
You should look like a Newsreader.
As
we have all discovered to our cost, retail salepeople
do not give you objective advice on your clothing
and make-up. We can arrange a session with our
style and grooming consultant who has made a vital
difference in this area for thousands of professionals.
In
this, as with all of our services, we tailor the
consultation to your needs and bring the dual
benefits of experience and objectivity to the
process.
An
overview piece on this from Rowan's blog
and a quick thought.
We also contributed to an article in the Sunday
Times on this subject here
and in the Irish Independent here.
