Some of the boxes on a standardised application form do allow for a measure of individuality.

SUPPORTING STATEMENT / ANY EXTRA INFORMATION

This is usually the last box to be filled on the form and it is the one of the few boxes in which you can really express yourself well - in other words this box is vital and can make all the difference to your application.

Tailor every word that you include and make sure that every word highlights your potential value to the organisation.
Try and stay within the confines of the box provided - impress the reader with your tight writing style.

Make certain that you have included everything that you would normally put on your CV for this position.

INTERESTS

Keep this section as short as you would on your CV. You can use it to further identify yourself with the personal attributes the employer is looking for. Employers look to the interests section of a CV or application form for a number of reasons:

To allow for some "relaxing" questions if the interview gets too hot and heavy.
To see how you round out as a person.

To identify conflicting interests which may make large demands on your time and interfere with your ability to meet deadlines, stay late at the office, etc..
